About Steri-Clean
Founded in 1995, Steri-Clean Inc. is a nationally recognized extreme cleaning company specializing in hoarding cleanup, crime and trauma scene cleanup, unattended deaths, biohazard remediation, drug contamination, odor removal, infectious disease decontamination, and other specialized cleaning services.

Today, Steri-Clean has more than 70 franchise territories open throughout the United States and continues to grow.

Our mission is reflected in our trademarked slogan, Restoring Homes and Lives®. We believe what we do goes far beyond cleaning properties. Our franchisees help people and families through some of the most difficult situations they will ever experience.

Steri-Clean is now seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chief Operating Officer to help lead the company through its next stage of growth.

The Opportunity
This is not a traditional corporate COO position where you will inherit multiple layers of management.

We are looking for a hands-on operator and leader who will work directly with our CEO to strengthen our franchise support system, improve franchisee performance, build scalable operational processes, and help develop the corporate infrastructure necessary to take Steri-Clean from more than 70 locations to 100 locations and beyond.

The successful candidate will become the senior executive primarily responsible for the performance, support, accountability, and operational health of our existing franchise system.

You will have the opportunity to help build the team and systems you will ultimately lead.

Reporting Structure
The COO will report directly to Cory Chalmers, CEO and Founder of Steri-Clean Inc.

The COO will work closely with our CFO, Vice President of Franchise Development & Growth, and other members of the corporate team.

As our organization continues to grow, the COO will oversee areas including:

Franchise Operations
Franchise Business Coaching
Franchisee Performance
Compliance and Brand Standards
Training and Continuing Education
New Franchise Onboarding
Operational Systems and Processes
Franchisee Communications
KPI and Performance Management
Key Responsibilities
Franchise Operations & Performance
Provide operational leadership and support to more than 70 independently owned Steri-Clean franchise locations throughout the United States.

Develop a structured franchise business coaching program focused on revenue growth, profitability, lead conversion, customer service, operational efficiency, and overall franchisee success.

Use KPI data to identify opportunities and areas of concern within individual franchises and across the system.

Establish regular franchise performance reviews and ensure appropriate follow-up and accountability.

Help franchise owners better understand their businesses through data rather than assumptions.

Build the Franchise Support Organization
Help design and build the operational structure necessary to support a growing national franchise system.

Recruit, train, and manage Franchise Business Coaches and other operational support personnel as growth requires. This is currently outsourced, but eventually be brought in house.

Establish clear responsibilities and communication channels between franchise operations, compliance, training, finance, marketing, and franchise development.

Reduce unnecessary dependency on the CEO for routine operational matters while maintaining strong communication between franchisees and corporate leadership.

Compliance & Brand Standards
Work with corporate staff to ensure franchisees operate in accordance with franchise agreements, operational standards, required reporting procedures, brand standards, and company policies.

Develop processes for identifying compliance issues early and correcting them before they become larger problems.

Create a culture where accountability and franchisee support work together rather than against one another.

Training & Development
Oversee the development of continuing education programs for franchise owners and their employees.

Help create structured onboarding programs for new franchisees, including initial training, opening preparation, and 30-, 60-, and 90-day follow-up.

Coordinate training for new services, technology, operational procedures, sales processes, and company initiatives.

Systems & KPI Management
Steri-Clean operates a highly data-driven franchise system. We have a built in KPI tool every time a franchisee logs into our proprietary software, so the data is already there.

The COO will work with management to continually improve our use of operational data, including:

Lead volume
Call answering performance
Estimate conversion
Job close rates
Average invoice
Franchise revenue
Marketing performance
Missing or incomplete invoices
Customer status management
Operational compliance
Year-over-year growth
The COO must be comfortable interpreting data and using it to help franchise owners make better business decisions.

Franchisee Relationships
Develop strong, professional relationships with franchise owners throughout the system.

Be accessible and responsive while establishing appropriate systems so issues are resolved at the proper organizational level.

Listen to franchisee concerns while balancing the needs of individual owners with the long-term interests of the entire franchise system.

Help maintain a culture built around communication, accountability, respect, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Leadership
Work directly with the CEO on company strategy and growth initiatives.

Help evaluate new programs, services, vendors, technology, and operational opportunities before system-wide implementation.

Participate in leadership meetings, franchise advisory meetings, annual conferences, training programs, and other company events.

Help prepare the Steri-Clean organization for continued national expansion.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with Christian beliefs who is comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial company where there is significant opportunity to build, improve, and create.

The ideal candidate will have:

Senior operations leadership experience
Experience working within a franchise organization strongly preferred
Experience supporting multi-location businesses
Proven ability to build processes and systems
Experience managing and developing people
Strong financial and business acumen
Strong understanding of KPIs and performance management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to coach business owners rather than simply manage employees
Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills
High level of organization and accountability
Comfort working directly with an entrepreneurial founder/CEO
Willingness to challenge ideas professionally and respectfully
Ability to turn strategy into execution
Experience in restoration, home services, environmental services, healthcare, property services, emergency services, franchising, or another service-based industry would be beneficial but is not required.

What This Position Is Not
We believe in being transparent about the opportunity.

This is not a position for someone looking to manage an already fully built corporate infrastructure.

Our next COO will help build that infrastructure.

You should be equally comfortable discussing long-term organizational strategy with the CEO and reviewing an individual franchise’s KPIs to understand why its close rate has declined.

We want someone willing to roll up their sleeves, solve problems, develop people, create processes, and then build a team capable of carrying those processes forward.

Work Location
This position will be work-from-home/remote for approximately the first year. We may bring back a corporate office, but currently, we all work remotely.

Steri-Clean is currently evaluating the long-term location and structure of its corporate headquarters. The successful candidate should therefore be open to discussing relocation to the future corporate office once that location has been determined.

Regular travel will be required for franchise visits, company meetings, franchise training, conferences, and other business activities.

Compensation
Base Salary: $100,000–$125,000 annually, depending upon experience, plus benefits.

The position will also include the opportunity for performance-based incentive compensation tied to clearly defined company and franchise-system performance objectives.

As Steri-Clean continues to grow, we want the person in this position to have the opportunity to grow with the company.

About Our Founder
Steri-Clean was founded in 1995 by Cory Chalmers, who continues to serve as CEO.

Cory has more than 30 years of experience in the extreme cleaning industry and more than a decade of experience building and operating a national franchise organization. He is also widely recognized for his role as an expert and host on A&E’s Emmy-nominated television series Hoarders.

Under his leadership, Steri-Clean has grown into a nationwide organization with more than 70 franchise locations and has been ranked #1 in its category by Entrepreneur Magazine in both 2025 and 2026.

The incoming COO will work closely with Cory as the company transitions additional day-to-day operational leadership to the COO and continues building the management structure required for the next stage of growth.

Why Steri-Clean?
This is an opportunity to join an established company at an unusual point in its evolution.

The brand, franchise system, reputation, and national footprint already exist.

The opportunity now is to help build the organizational infrastructure necessary for the next chapter.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact not only on the corporate organization, but on the success of dozens of franchise owners and the thousands of customers and families they serve.
