Overview:
Asheville Christian Academy, a Christ-centered K-12 school, is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Curriculum to lead the development and implementation of a dynamic and Biblically integrated curriculum across all grade levels. This position is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to fostering academic excellence while ensuring the integration of Christian principles throughout all subjects. The Director of Curriculum will play a pivotal role in guiding curriculum development, instructional strategies, and student performance analysis to ensure the highest quality of education for our students.

Required Confessional and Spiritual Qualities
It is required that all staff:
· Acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live a life grounded in grace and obedience to Him.
· Believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God—the standard for faith and practice (Article II, ACA By-Laws).
· Believe and actively support the By-Laws of Asheville Christian Academy (attached).
· Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual service to others.
· Stand as a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40). This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct (ACA Lifestyle Statement/Declaration of Moral Integrity).
· Affirm and agree that as a staff member of Asheville Christian Academy, he or she has an important role and ministry in carrying out the school’s mission of Christian discipleship by demonstrating to students how to live and apply the Christian faith in every area of work and vocation.
· Demonstrate the fruits of mature Christians, have a knowledge of Scripture, and a fundamental understanding of key doctrines covered in the By-laws.

Required Professional Qualities
It is required that all staff will:
· Demonstrate a reasonable level of computer literacy and have basic proficiencies in Microsoft Office, Outlook, accessing the Internet for instructional purposes, and use of ACA’s school communications and management software.
· Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the supervising Director or Administrator.
· Clearly articulate a Biblical philosophy of education
· Maintain a professional appearance indicative of a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty in dress, words, and actions consistent with school policy and the teachings of scripture (Philippians 4:8-9).
Required Personal Qualities
It is required that all staff will:
· Sign and live cheerfully by the ACA Lifestyle Statement (attached) as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry.
· Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train a child in the way he should go” (Prov. 22:6, NIV).

Spiritual Leadership
· Reflect the chief end of the Christian, which is to glorify and honor Christ in every work responsibility, and to enjoy Him in the process.
· Promote the Christian faith and demonstrate biblical precepts to students by being a living example of how a Christian fulfills job responsibilities. In this way, staff join faculty in the fulfillment of the school’s Christian discipleship mission.
· Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters.

· When necessary, coordinate schedules and events with other faculty.

Specific Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Integration of a Biblical Worldview
· Ensure that a Biblical worldview is effectively integrated into all subject areas, providing a Christ-centered perspective in every lesson.
· Collaborate with faculty to help them understand and implement the integration of Biblical principles in both content and pedagogy.
· Promote the school’s mission and vision in all curricular planning and teaching practices.
2. Monitoring and Evaluating Teachers
· Partner with level heads to plan and execute a schedule of teacher observations and evaluations across all levels.
· Onboarding of new faculty and monitoring them throughout the year.
3. Curriculum Review Cycle Leadership
· Lead and oversee the ongoing curriculum review process, ensuring alignment with both internal school objectives and external standards.
· Coordinate regular reviews of all subject areas to ensure continuous improvement and relevance.
· Collaborate with division heads, department heads, and teachers to update, refine, and revise curriculum materials and resources.
· Manage the digital curriculum mapping tool to enable communication and transparency between divisions, grade levels, and subject areas.
4. Analysis of Student Performance Assessment Data
· Analyze student performance data from assessments, standardized tests, and classroom evaluations to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
· Work with faculty and administration to interpret data, develop actionable insights, and inform instructional decisions.
· Provide recommendations for differentiated instruction based on assessment outcomes.
5. Vertical Alignment of Subjects
· Ensure vertical alignment of curriculum across grade levels, from kindergarten through 12th grade, to promote smooth transitions and consistent academic progression.
· Collaborate with grade-level teams and department heads to maintain coherence in scope, sequence, and learning objectives.
· Facilitate vertical team meetings to share best practices and promote continuity in student learning.
6. Modeling of Effective Instructional Strategies
· Demonstrate best practices in teaching and learning, modeling effective instructional strategies for faculty across disciplines.
· Lead professional development sessions focused on instructional innovation, differentiation, and the integration of technology.
· Support teachers in the implementation of diverse instructional strategies that meet the needs of all students.
7. Alignment to External Standards
· Ensure the curriculum aligns with the school’s selected external educational standards, including state and national standards as appropriate.
· Stay up to date with changes in external standards and recommend adjustments to the curriculum as necessary.
· Guide faculty in the interpretation and application of these standards in their teaching practices.
8. Integration of AI in Instruction
· Monitor developments in AI in regard to education.
· Suggest methods of implementing AI within our curriculum, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a K-12 Christian school setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or curriculum role.
A deep understanding of Christian education and the ability to integrate Biblical worldview seamlessly into the curriculum.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic educational environment.
Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment strategies, and data-driven instruction.
Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum review and alignment processes across grade levels and subjects.
Knowledge of external relevant educational standards (e.g., state standards, Common Core, ACT/SAT) and experience aligning curriculum with these standards.
Expertise in instructional strategies, including the integration of technology and AI tools in the classroom.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and parents.
Work Hours and Times
· July 1 through June 30 (regular school time) the hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
· June 16 through July 31 (summertime) the hours are 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
· Lunch breaks each day for 30 minutes.
· Required to be present for all faculty workdays and as requested for snow days.
