HS Science Teacher

The International Academy of Suriname, a caring community committed to providing a

IAS is a modern Pre-Kindergarten to grade 12 school. Students are primarily from the expatriate community and represent many different cultures and religions. Situated in Paramaribo, the capital city of Suriname, IAS employs about 35 people including faculty to serve the approximately 100 students who attend. Suriname is located on the northeast coast of South America about 5 degrees north of the equator. The school is proud of its gymnasium and boasts of the largest English-language library in the country.

The International Academy of Suriname is seeking a High School Science Teacher to join our team.
You will work closely with students, families, and teachers to provide support and guidance
for academic, spiritual and socio-emotional development.Christian HS Science Teacher

Science Teacher Responsibilities:
– Designing, developing, and delivering quality lesson plans and curricula that adhere to TEKS or Common core standards and school guidelines.
– Drawing up suitable assessments and delivering helpful feedback to students, parents, and other teachers.
– Establishing classroom, lab, and field trip rules and regulations and ensuring that all students understand what is expected of them.
– Setting up demonstrations and assisting and supervising students while they conduct experiments.
– Providing extra resources, support, and interventions for students who are struggling.
– Grading papers, updating records, and handling various administrative tasks in a timely manner.
– Creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns.
– Participating in other school activities and regularly communicating with parents, families, and school staff.

Science Teacher Requirements:
– Committed Christian; having a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and well-grounded in
the Word of God
– Bachelor’s degree in science or a related discipline, obtained in the USA or Canada
– Native English speaker
– Practical experience with MS Office, Google Classroom, and other software.
– Stable and pleasant personality
– A passion for science and a commitment to continuing education.
– Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
