Mission Development – Senior Relationship Management Officer
Location: Remote, with preference given to candidates in Tennessee, Florida, or Chicago metro areas.
Position Overview and Mission
The Senior Relationship Management Officer (SRMO) will develop and execute an integrated strategy that enhances Bright Hope’s awareness and philanthropic activity with key donors in the database. Our mission to bring Hope to the extreme poor is immediate and we are in search for individuals that have the calling, energy, and passion to work hard and create solutions that bring hope for today, hope for tomorrow, and hope for eternity to those most in need. The Senior Relationship Management Officer will work closely with the President and Development Team in ramping up the organization’s philanthropic growth. They will report directly to Director of Strategic Relationships and Ally Communications, and work closely with the CEO.
The mission of this position is to increase revenue by personally representing Bright Hope to key Relationship Management (RM) contacts with charitable hearts and affluence, then igniting them to passion and action in support of our work. This position will help create opportunities for donors to experience transformation in their worldview and view of poverty, just as the program beneficiaries are experiencing transformation. This Mutual Transformation is a core value of Bright Hope.
The candidate will lead the Relationship Management systems and processes to raise funds; provide regular evaluation of development activities and identify opportunities to adapt and improve results for growth. We expect and encourage the SRMO to implement best practices, policies, and procedures, as well as have a stake in implementing newly identified systems to scale our mission.
Lastly, we would ask that the SRMO understand and share our statement of faith.
Position Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, including (but not limited to):
Developing relationships with major donors and crafting individualized cultivation and stewardship strategies.
Conducting in-person and virtual donor visits
Preparing personalized gift proposals for donors, making gift solicitations, and having planned giving conversations with donors.
Identifying and qualifying major gift prospects from existing donor base as well as from outside our existing donor base.
Assist the RM team with the strategy, planning, and execution of donor events.
In coordination with the RM team, support the planning and launch of new donor society in 2026.
Track activities and moves management in Salesforce.
Lead 2-3 international donor trips per year to program sites, creating a space for donors to be transformed through the impact of their support (mutual transformation).
Qualifications
3+ years of development experience in a major gifts’ role.
Undergraduate degree preferred.
Experience with Salesforce preferred.
Strong competency with Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to domestically travel approximately 5 days per month and internationally 2-3 time per year.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must care deeply for uplifting those suffering from extreme poverty using a Christian framework.
Demonstrable ability to ignite passion for Bright Hope’s mission and vision.
Demonstrable ability to effectively cold call prospective benefactors.
Demonstrable ability to engage and inspire high-net-worth individuals to give generously.
